I began my business dealings in the 1980&#039;s, times that were dominated by the most respectful Japanese companies. The thought that someone would break off in mid-sentence to answer a telephone would never have crossed our minds. In fact, if a telephone had rang during a meeting in those days we would have been drawn over hot coals after the meeting had concluded.

One book which has always held me in good stead is &quot;Elegance&quot;, by Genevieve Antoine Dariaux.</description>
