I began my business dealings in the 1980's, times that were dominated by the most respectful Japanese companies. The thought that someone would break off in mid-sentence to answer a telephone would never have crossed our minds. In fact, if a telephone had rang during a meeting in those days we would have been drawn over hot coals after the meeting had concluded. One book which has always held me in good stead is "Elegance", by Genevieve Antoine Dariaux.
